Monday Movies: CineMusic Film Series

CineMusic’s movie pick in August is Wicked: For Good (2025, PG, 2h 17m). It is a musical fantasy film directed by Jon M. Chu. The sequel to Wicked (2024), it adapts the second act of the 2003 stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Holzman. “Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The second of a two-part feature film adaptation of the Broadway musical.” (IMDb)
CineMusic curator and In The Groove Music Club host, Mark A. Vasquez, will be hosting the evening screening and will be having a special giveaway (courtesy of new series partner @Princeton_Record_Exchange). Arrive a few minutes early to the evening screening to hear introductory remarks and to collect a ticket for the giveaway, as the screening will begin promptly at 6:15PM.

‘Paws’ to Read with a Therapy Dog
August 22nd
1-2pm
For children of all ages. Come and hang out with Sarge or Niles, our lovable therapy dogs. They love to hear stories! Each reader will have about 10 minutes of reading time.
Don’t want to read? Come anyway, our therapy dogs love hugs, too!
No registration is needed, however you may need to wait your turn.

“Creatures of Spiritual Affinity: a fantastical journey of transformation” Gallery Exhibit
On display in the library’s gallery thru August 26th
About the Exhibit:
Gallery at the Metuchen Library invites you on an adventure of color and symbol, an exploration of movement and pattern, a voyage of internal reflection in our latest installation “Creatures of Spiritual Affinity: a fantastical journey of transformation”. Drawing from her Guyanese-American roots, Lana Abraham-Murawaski interprets her personal journey and challenges through abstract landscapes using oil, acrylic, ink, pencil and other mixed media. Lana received a Bachelors in Studio Arts from Trinity College, interned for renowned artist Sol Lewitt and has exhibited up and down the east coast. Lana’s work will be on display Saturday, June 27 through Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Mah Jongg Open Play

The library provides Mah Jongg sets and tables for open play time. This is not a class and there will be no instruction on how to play. Bring friends if you can!
