On Wednesday, September 9, the public computers will not be available from 10am to 5pm during the installation of a new system.

September is Library Card Sign Up Month!

This month, Metuchen Public Library invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month and discover no matter what your tastes are, a library card hits all the right notes!

This year’s theme, “A Library Card Hits All The Right Notes,” is a reminder that libraries are for everyone — no matter what rhythm you find yourself in, there’s a seat in the front row at the library for you.. Whether you’re diving into a new hobby, searching for your next great read, brushing up on tech skills, or helping your child succeed in school, it all starts with a library card. This September, B sharp, and sign up for a library card!

Labor Day Weekend Closure

The library will be closed Saturday September 5 through Monday September 7 for Labor Day. We will reopen Tuesday, September 8 at 10am.

Open call to Artists!

The Gallery at the Metuchen Library is hosting our Annual Art Show and Sale. Come pick up your canvas from the library front desk starting August 31, for $10, create your masterpiece and be part of the show.

All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Metuchen Library, which supports library programming, resources and services.

OLLI-Rutgers: Justice in the Hands of Poe

Tuesday, September 22, 2026, 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Experience Rutgers Osher Lifelong Learning at the Metuchen Public Library with a one hour presentation of “Justice in the Hands of Poe” by Maureen McVeigh-Berzok. You will engage with Edgar Allan Poe’s language and unrelenting sense of justice in The Tell-Tale Heart and The Black Cat, masterpieces of mystery and horror by the master of the macabre.

Presenter Maureen McVeigh-Berzok loves words. She has spent 47 years connecting great stories with students on a Native American reservation in Oklahoma, to tenth graders in a New Jersey high school, as part of a program for teen runaways in New York, as a K-12 Literary Supervisor, as a college professor of English Composition, and as a newspaper editor.
