Event Calendar
Explore our calendar for activities for all ages, including workshops, book clubs, storytimes, and more. Connect, learn, and grow with your community.
The library offers a variety of programs for adults throughout the year. Regularly occurring programs include:
- Movie Screenings: Enjoy feature films on our Community Room’s big screen. Select Monday afternoons and evenings of each month.
- Book Club: A lively monthly discussion of a pre-selected title. All are welcome. Second Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm, September-June. Contact Justine at jjohnson@metuchenlibrary.org.
- Spanish Book Club: First Wednesday of each month at 7pm, September-June, held as a hybrid format (in-person or virtual). Must speak fluent Spanish to participate; no English is allowed during the book discussion. To join, contact Elaine at elaineedgcomb@gmail.com.
- Metuchen Writers Club: Second Thursday of each month at 7pm. To join, contact Nicole at nchinchar@metuchenlibrary.org.
- Yoga and Meditation: Classes are held regularly each month, usually on Fridays. See calendar for details.
- Mah Jongg Open Play and Board Games Night: See calendar for details.
- Tech Help 101: If you have issues with or questions about your laptop, cell phone, tablet, etc., we may be able to help! Please call the library to schedule an appointment.
- English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes: Held September through June. For more information, contact metuchenpubliclibrary@metuchenlibrary.org.

The library offers programs for children of all ages and their caregivers throughout the year. Regularly occurring programs include:
- Rhythm & Rhyme: Stories, songs and movement for ages 2-5 and their caregivers.
- Bookworms: Stories, rhymes and more for children ages 24-36 months and their caregivers.
- Bouncing Babies: Stories, rhymes and songs for babies 3-18 months and their caregivers.
- Take & Make Crafts: Grab a bag now and do the craft later! Held on select Fridays.
- Homework Buddies: During the school year, teen volunteers can help younger students with their homework. For more information, contact Jules at jrichards@metuchenlibrary.org.
- StoryWalk: Families, take a walk outside near the library and read a story while you walk!

The library offers programs for teens throughout the year. Regularly occurring programs include:
Teen Advisory Board: The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is for teens in grades 6-12 who are interested in committing to 15 service hours through the calendar year. This involves participating in our monthly meetings, volunteering for library events and/or library services.
YA Book Group: We meet monthly to discuss a pre-selected book, either fiction or a graphic novel, but always YA. All ages welcome!
Chess Club: We meet on the first and third Thursday of the month to play matches and get some basic instruction. All ages and skill-levels welcome!

The Metuchen Makery is a place for creativity, imagination and innovation. This makerspace cultivates imagination as the cornerstone of active learning and supports the library’s evolving role as a community center where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to create tangible projects using shared resources. Some regularly occurring programs and services include:
- Coding Workshops with WeMake4H: We partner with a community non-profit to provide introductory workshops in Computer Programming for middle school and high school students.
- Metuchen Coding Club: Join coding beginners and enthusiasts within the community to share projects and complete activities.
- Library Lab: For children ages 5-12, workshops to perform basic science experiments or use some of the library’s educational maker kits.
- 3D Printing: Send us a design in printable format, and the Library will provide a price quote. Most items can be printed for less than $5!
