Join cone9colab artists Robert Diken, Simon Keller, and John Marron for an afternoon celebrating The Art of Wabi-Sabi, sometimes described as the beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.” Its characteristics include asymmetry, roughness, simple beauty, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy and the appreciation of both natural objects and the forces of nature. A Wabi-Sabi mindset is accepting things as they are, knowing that even imperfect things are perfect in their own way.

This program is in conjunction with the art exhibit on display from January 5 to February 28 in the library’s Gallery.

Schedule for the afternoon:
1:30-1:45 — Wabi-Sabi Introduction
1:45-2:30 — Tea Ceremony
Three attendees will be selected randomly to participate in the tea ceremony; others will observe and learn.
2:30-3:15 — Sumi-e ink Drawing workshop
3:15-3:45 — Assemblage Sculpture workshop
3:45-4:00 — Kin Hin / Walking Meditation

Adults and families are welcome; children should be accompanied by an adult.

Registration is required.
