For ages 9-15.

This workshop will describe the process of creating characters in comics, manga, and graphic novels and allow participants to craft their own characters. We’ll look at some famous (and less than famous) heroes and break down their characteristics and what makes them appealing. Then we’ll show how to sketch out and build a complete character. The workshop will combine the skills of local graphic novel scholar Kenneth Sammond and two practicing artists.

This program corresponds with “Will Eisner Week” (March 1-7), which recognizes the pioneering illustrator who championed graphic novels for the general public.

Registration is required.
