DESCRIPTION:For ages 9-15.\n\nThis workshop will describe the process of cr
 eating characters in comics\, manga\, and graphic novels and allow partici
 pants to craft their own characters. We'll look at some famous (and less t
 han famous) heroes and break down their characteristics and what makes the
 m appealing. Then we'll show how to sketch out and build a complete charac
 ter. The workshop will combine the skills of local graphic novel scholar K
 enneth Sammond and two practicing artists.\n\nThis program corresponds wit
 h "Will Eisner Week" (March 1-7)\, which recognizes the pioneering illust
 rator who championed graphic novels for the general public.\n\nRegistratio
 n is required.
