Fine & Fee Forgiveness Month

In celebration of National Library Week, the Metuchen Public Library is pleased to announce that during the entire month of April, we will forgive most overdue fines and replacement card fees for Metuchen Public Library card holders. 

Return your overdue books!

Get rid of your unpaid overdue fines!
The library will forgive past and present overdue fines on all Metuchen Library-owned items, no matter how late they are.

• You must come in-person to the library’s main desk to have your fines forgiven.
• Fines for items from other libraries cannot be forgiven. This initiative is for Metuchen items only.
• You will still be charged for lost and damaged items.

Replace your lost or damaged library card!
Free with proof of Metuchen residence. (The usual cost of a replacement card is $3.)

Renew your expired library card!
As long as all overdue items have been returned, the library will renew expired Metuchen Library cards, forgive all overdue fines on Metuchen Library-owned items, and return your card to good standing.

Fine and Fee Forgiveness is for the month of April only. Refunds cannot be given for fines and fees paid prior to April 1, 2025.
