Reimagine the Future of Your Library!
Metuchen Public Library (MPL) is embarking on a strategic planning process to address both immediate challenges and long-term opportunities, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our community. The goal is to create a plan that positions MPL as a dynamic and relevant resource, anticipating the changing expectations of our community and redefining the role of the library in Metuchen.
This strategic planning effort will explore key questions, such as: What do community members and leaders expect from the library, now and in the future? How can MPL adapt to shifts in library services, content, collections, and staffing to remain a trusted community partner? How can MPL refresh and re-envision its facilities to better serve its patrons?
Led by consultants Leslie and Alan Burger of Library Development Solutions, the planning process will involve the active participation of the library’s staff, Board, and community members. Through a series of engaging activities—including surveys, focus groups, and community meetings—the community will have the opportunity to share your insights and ideas, contributing directly to the development of the new strategic plan.
This inclusive approach ensures that the final plan will reflect our community’s vision for a library that continually delights, surprises, and supports it, both now and in the future. MPL is committed to creating a library space that meets the needs of the Metuchen community and remains a vibrant, essential resource for learning, engagement, and community connection.
Looking ahead in 2025… We’re crafting a new three-year strategic plan, and we want your input to help Reimagine the Metuchen Public Library.
Survey
As a thank you for participating, all respondents who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing for the opportunity to win an Apple iPad Mini. The winner will be selected at random once the survey period ends.
Focus Groups
Metuchen Public Library is thinking about its future. We are looking for people who are frequent or infrequent users of the library and are willing to spend 60-90 minutes thinking about ways we could improve our services. The library will host a number of community conversations, facilitated by consultants from Library Development Solutions. These will be held in a hybrid format.
